NMS Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP)

Implementation and Impact Report (I & I) Report

November/December 2006

Summary:

We are still in the beginning stages of the 2 year plan.  Most activities are on-going, in the planning stages, or it is not the time of year for implementation.  The overall plan appears to be right on schedule.   We continue to be amazed at the phenomenal focus on learning this school year through great teaching and learning activities in the classrooms.

Academic Performance:

A.1 – Teachers are doing this (using Bloom’s flip chart, sharing proficient work)

A.2 - All curriculum timelines have been completed by staff members.  Ms. Nicholas is in the process of compiling these into a notebook.  They are posted on our website.

B.1, B.2  – There is a school-wide focus on assessment (authentic, KCCT-like including open response, HOTS, common assessments, analyzing assessment data, etc., Web-based version of Unit Mapper/Lesson Plan Creator is purchased and in use.  Excellent lesson plans are submitted weekly by our staff.

B.3 – Content departments have been meeting monthly.  We created an agenda for their use that is aligned to the committee charges.  All departments have completed at least one round of analysis of student work and they have used the item analysis protocol tool.  Ms. Murphy is in the process of putting together a binder for each department that contains all the current and necessary documents that they may need for the school year.

C.1 - On-going PD opportunities are available (waiting for walk-through analysis on collaboration), teams are considering there ID unit, still seeking information for remedial reading program to target novice reductions

C.2 – Evidence of outstanding instructional practices included heightened use of technology applications (united streaming, COWS, PRS).

Learning Environment:

A.1 – Straight A campaign still a focus, added ABC’s of Northern and school-side expectations (KYCID team), working to recognize and celebrate students more frequently.   We have reinforced the use of the ABC’s through presentation and teaching of the expectations each grading term and through team t-shirts.
