NMS Expectations for Staff Duty Responsibilities

Every student is everyone’s responsibility!  We are ALL teachers!

Your presence is important, your SUPERVISION is critical!

We are always on duty when we are in the presence of students!

CLASSROOM –

            Remind students of your classroom expectations

            Never leave students unattended

            Circulate and use proximity

            Greet and dismiss students at your door and monitor them as they arrive and leave your room

RESTROOM –

            Remind students of RR expectations

Check the restroom upon entering

            Stand just inside the door so you can watch the students who are waiting and the students who are inside

            Only allow as many students at a time as there are stalls or urinals

            When finished, students should line up and wait for their teacher or report to their designated area

            Check the restroom when all students have cleared the area

HALLWAY –

            Remind students of Hallway expectations

            Walk along side students to designated area for drop off and pick up

            Periodically stop at stop points as needed

            Ensure that students are following their dismissal patterns

CAFETERIA –

            Remind students of the cafeteria expectations

            Supervise students as they wait and as they go through the lunch line

            Walk up and down the isles systematically to supervise

            Stay on schedule – arrive and dismiss on time

            Students who are outside must be accompanied by a staff member

BUS RAMP –

            Remind students to go directly to their bus

            Remind students to walk, not run

            Report to your assigned station and closely monitor that area

            Student must remain behind the posts until the busses have opened their doors
