NORTHERN MIDDLE SCHOOL
SBDM Council Meeting
November 27, 2007
Ms. Murphy called the meeting to order at 4:10pm. A quorum was established with the following members present. Angela Murphy, JB Pitman, Shawn Roberts, Julie Dick. Absent were Jerrilyn Randolph, and Lana Mayfield. Shelly Hargis was present. Shelly Petrey served as Council Secretary.
Ms. Murphy requested to add the financial report and CSIP document to the agenda.
Ms. Dick made a motion to accept the agenda as amended. Mr. Roberts seconded the motion and it passed with consensus.
Mr. Pitman made a motion to approve the October 23, 2007, minutes as presented.
Mr. Roberts seconded the motion and it passed with consensus.
Ms. Murphy shared test score information with Council. The staff has set a school goal of 93.4 for the 2007-2008 school year. Ms. Dick made a motion to approve the Test Analysis Plan. Mr. Pitman seconded the motion and it passed with consensus.
Ms. Hargis shared the 2008-2010 CSIP Committee Rosters with Council. Mr. Roberts made a motion to accept the roster as presented. Ms. Dick seconded the motion and it passed with consensus.
Ms. Hargis shared with Council the Parent Survey results which were conducted at Parent Teacher Conference and also mailed with the latest YSC Newsletter. Overall results were very complimentary to our school. One component to our school improvement is to develop a new motto, vision, mission, and belief statements.
Ms. Murphy reviewed committee minutes with the Council. Council accepted the committee minutes by consent.
Ms. Murphy reviewed the financial report with Council. Ms. Murphy will review SEEK POOL balance with the bookkeeper. Mr. Roberts made a motion to accept the financial report as presented. Mr. Pitman seconded the motion and it passed with consensus.
Ms. Murphy discussed the Needs Assessment Report that must be submitted by December 21st. Various needs were discussed by the Council and will be included in the document.
In the Principal’s Report Ms. Murphy shared with the Council, student and staff attendance, an outstanding Science Fair, Feud for Food competition, where the north beat the south. Ms Murphy was canned from her office. Technology is now all wireless. We are preparing for the Community Breakfast, Chorus Concert, Christmas Social, Band Concert and the Christmas Production. Our STLP team will be competing at the Center.
The STW review team will interview Council members during their site visit in January.
Hilma Prather, President of the Somerset Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce, sent a letter inviting the Council to attend the Chamber meeting with special speaker Bob Sexton, Executive Director of the Pritchard Committee for Academic Excellence on December 4th.
Mr. Pitman made a motion to adjourn at 4:55 pm. Ms. Dick seconded the motion and it passed with consensus
