MINUTES

Members present: April Brown, Laura Cherry, Sharon Cherry, Juanita Crowder, Debbie Estes, Shelly Hargis, Carol Helton, Derek Hicks, Debbie Isaacs, Shelly Jenkins, Anna Meece, Tina White, Kathy Sampson, Peggy Hamilton

Members absent: Anthony Flynn, Debbie Wiles

Tina White opened meeting with greetings and introductions at 12:05

Minutes of previous meeting were approved. Motion by Derek Hicks. Second by Anna Meece.

Old Business: Discussed by Ms. Sampson: Back to School Extravaganza, Kids Day Out, and Open House.

New Business:

a. NMS shirts sales -profit about $700.00, sale has been extended.

b. Baby Think It Over program (last year for babies we have will need to purchase new babies for next school year if possible by the end of December 2007).

c. Truancy Diversion Program- targeting students from last year at first. Orientation will be held on 9-13-07 at NMS. Expecting 28 students and their parents. After this orientation a workshop will be held at NMS for those students and parents.

d. Social Work Student from EKU- Kim Conner completing practicum with YSC.

e. “Changes” for 6^th grade in Sept.-provided by Health Department to discuss puberty and hygiene.

f. Babysitting Training with Pulaski County Ext. Office in Sept.- have approx. 51 students attending.

g. Grandparent Support Group-Sept. 24th

h. EGAT for Middle School at the Center on Sept. 26^th

i. Newsletter Sept. 28^th-printing Oct. newsletter – anything you would like to include in the newsletter have the info to Peggy Hamilton in YSC by the 15^th of the month prior

j. “Take 5” Nov. 1^st- for 6^th grade parents from 5:30-7:30

k. Renaissance-Gold, Silver, Bronze cards discussed. Implementing a Bronze card this year for students with C’s and above with no unexcused absents and no referrals. Cherrydale orders have been placed and will be delivered on Sept. 20. Money will be due on Oct. 15^th.

l. YSC Advisory council meetings will now be held at 12:00 p.m. Schedule of meetings for the coming year was given.
